Welcome students and families to the 2024-2025 school year! My name is Dr. Christopher Jonassen, and I am the proud principal at Concord Middle School. It is my privilege to lead such an outstanding school community. Our vision is to be a diverse school that inspires everyone to be inclusive, compassionate, lifelong learners and successful contributors to the community.
I have been in education for 16 years, serving as a principal at all levels from PK-12. I have been a teacher, instructional coach, assistant principal and principal. My educational journey began at St. Joseph’s College in NY, where I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary and Special Education. I furthered my studies with a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from UNC-Pembroke and completed my academic journey with a Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership from UNC-Charlotte.
Beyond my professional life, I am happily married to my wife, Sara, and we have a wonderful 10-year-old son named Travis. Their support and encouragement are vital to my work and passion for education.
This year, our theme is “Uncovering Greatness. Dig Deep, Rise High.” We look forward to digging deeper into our teaching and learning to ensure students can rise high and meet high expectations. This theme encapsulates our commitment to providing a high-quality education that helps each student uncover their potential and achieve greatness.
I am excited about the opportunities and successes that this school year will bring. Together, we will make this an exceptional year at Concord Middle School. If any need arises, please do not hesitate to reach out. I can be reached using our school phone at 704-260-6430 or by email at christopher.jonassen@cabarrus.k12.nc.us.
Warm regards,
Dr. Christopher Jonassen

Miner Family! I am beyond excited to have joined Concord Middle School. Middle school is my passion, and I cannot wait to learn and grow together with you. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
Before joining the miner family, I worked in the technology division of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools for several years. However, I previously taught science at Harold E. Winkler and Jay M. Robinson schools here in Concord and I am happy to be back home.
I am originally from Gastonia and most of my family is still there. Fishing, bowling, video games, traveling, and trying new restaurants are some of my top hobbies. I received a Bachelor’s degree in middle grades education from Western Carolina University “GO CATS!” and completed two graduate programs from the University of North Carolina Charlotte in Technology and School Administration. Thank you for accepting me into your family and let’s have a great year!
